The lion is new king

THE Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, starring Sheepscombe schoolboy William Moseley, has become Disney's biggest film ever in the UK.

With sales of £44.4 million at the UK box office, Narnia has now surpassed Toy Story 2, which took £44.3 million.

Toy Story had held the record for the company's biggest ever UK release since 2000.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is currently being shown in 25 territories across the world and has achieved $403.5 million at the world box office to date.

Film company Buena Vista International released the figures to coincide with the DVD, which was launched last week.
