THE third gala in the Cotswold League series was held in Frome. Stroud Swimming Club's team swam with their customary emphasis on improving their times rather than looking for places.
The odds were against them with a team weakened by illness and injury, but they still managed to field a competitor in all but two events.
This resulted in the youngest swimmers having to swim up one and sometimes two age groups,.Rising to the occasion, they concentrated on the task in hand which was to put in very some fast times.
Meanwhile, the senior swimmers did a great job reassuring the youngsters and bolstering their confidence.
Special mention must go to Patrick Price and Neil Craxford who, though new to competitions, swam up one age group with great confidence. Stroud are now in eighth place in the league and are vying for a place in the A final.
