Non-stop confusion

A TRAVELLING bus stop that has changed location three times is causing confusion among passengers who have no idea where to wait.

Forest Green Residents' Association in Nailsworth has collected 150 signature on a petition demanding the bus stop be returned to its original spot.

Despite not being told about these changes, member Margaret Marshall, 62, said passengers have been shouted at in the street by bus drivers for standing at obsolete stops.

"My friends were waiting for a bus the other day and a driver wound down his window and shouted 'I'm not picking you up from there, you better get up the road if you want to get on'," said Ms Marshall, a grandmother of nine.

"Even the drivers don't know where they're supposed to be going - it's absolute chaos.

"Some drivers who know us are really nice and stop where the old bus stop used to be as a favour.

"It doesn't make sense to keep moving it - it is a real trek for us now, especially the elderly people who find it difficult to get around."

The stop was outside Forest Green Rovers football ground but has now been moved to Norton Wood and elderly passengers have to cross busy roads to reach it.

Stagecoach wrote to Ms Marshall in April apologising for any inconvenience caused, but says the county council deals with the location of stops.

A Gloucestershire County Council spokesman said: "The council will consult as a matter of urgency with all parties with the aim of reinstating the bus stop as quickly as possible."
