Horsley: Gary's future was never discussed

FOREST GREEN chairman Trevor Horsley confirmed that Gary Owers will remain at The Lawn after the Nalisworth side dramatically beat the drop.

Horsley has certainly been a staunch backer of the man he brought back to The Lawn last June.

He said: "Gary started with nothing but he kept chipping away and he's brought some great players in.

"Hand on heart, we never even discussed his future once. It was never in doubt that he'd be here next season."

Horsley also revealed that relegation would have seen the club reverting to a part-time status.

"To be relegated into a new stadium would have been a financial disaster for the club in terms of the playing budget and the staff-we would have probably looked at reverting back to part-time.
