Crime figures revealed

THE COUNTY'S annual crime figures were unveiled yesterday, Tuesday, showing a total reduction of 10.7 per cent for all offences across the Cotswolds and Stroud division.

The figures for the division also show a 70 per cent detection rate on violent crime, which is the highest rate in the county.

The division was the only area to meet targets on the detection rates of violent crime set by Gloucestershire Police Authority.

Other reductions include a fall in burglary and sexual offences by 10 percent and 9.1 percent respectively.

Chief Superintendent Gavin Thomas, commander of the Cotswolds and Stroud division said: "The crime reductions in areas such as burglary, theft and vandalism are impressive, and we will be striving to drive down crime levels even further this year."
