PROPERTYMARK, a brand new stamp of approval for the property market, has been launched by two of the industry’s regulatory bodies.

The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) and the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) have joined forces to create the new certification, which will replace the National Federation of Property Professionals brand.

Member agents will now display new logos to prove their credentials and awareness is set to be raised by a new #LOOKFORTHELOGO campaign.

Allison Thompson, managing director at property specialist Leaders, which is a member of both ARLA and NAEA, says: “We support the arrival of Propertymark as we believe it will make it easier for consumers to protect themselves when selling, buying, letting or renting a property.

“Customers deserve the opportunity to make an informed decision over which letting or estate agents to use – and to do that it is clear many require a better understanding of what ARLA and NAEA membership means and which agents have it.

“We believe there should be more regulation of the industry to prevent rogue agents from taking advantage of customers. Agents that are members of both ARLA and NAEA, such as ourselves, abide by their strict codes of conduct, which includes client money protection schemes, legal knowledge and compliance and having trained and qualified legal staff in place.”

ARLA and NAEA have pledged to ensure Propertymark becomes a widely recognised stamp of approval that allows customers to know exactly where to head for advice they can trust in relation to their property transactions.

Allison adds: “Propertymark stands for protection, high standards and qualifications - and people who use registered agents can be sure they are dealing with experts in sales and lettings.”
