BABAJACK play at the Prince Albert, Rodborough on Saturday night.
Trevor Steger, who plays slide, acoustic and self-made winebox guitars with the band, became interested in making instruments when working in Zimbabwe as a VSO woodwork teacher.
“All these little kids were walking around playing these handmade goatskin guitars strapped onto a pot, or petrol can guitars. We brought these into our sound to get a bit more raunch to it,” he said.
“I also play the rack harmonica with a little microphone attachment that I’ve made.”
The band also features tribal rhythms, African drum, stomp, cahon and vocals from Becky Tate and double bass from Marc Miletitch.
