GREAT British rock band The Kinks will be fifty this year.

Sadly Pete Quaife, their original bass player won’t be around to join in any celebrations, having passed away in 2010.

Pete died from renal failure in June 2010 aged 67, and now his brother David has created a charity in his memory, The Pete Quaife Foundation, which aims to improve the lives of children on dialysis, through music.

The charity provides equipment, such as portable DVD players, Kindles and X-Boxes, which can be sterilized, to occupy children whilst they undergo their treatment, which takes four hours, three times a week.

This Saturday, the foundation have organised an afternoon of live music in Stratford Park, on the bandstand, featuring sets from The Jaam, The Watts, Thee Ones, The Q, Square Bomb, Steve and The Achievers, Biff Bang Pow.

A bar and food will be available. The event is free, but please bring donations.
