THE King of Rock and Roll lives again this weekend, when Joe Reeve brings his Elvis tribute show to town.

Backed by his Vegas Big Band and harmony vocalists The Belle Sensations, Joe will be performing His Way at The Lansdown Hall on Saturday.

2015 marks what would have been Elvis’ 80th birthday, and this concert is a birthday bash in his honour.

Joe, a father-of-three who lives in Uplands, has been impersonating Elvis for seven years.

“I grew up listening to Elvis,” he said.

“My parents are both fans. I can remember listening to Suspicious Minds as a small child and being mesmerised by it..

“When I’m doing my Elvis ‘homework’, I tend to watch footage of the 1973 Aloha concert.

"You have to look and listen for all the little idiosyncrasies and mannerisms. Eventually you hope that these will sink in and become part of your act."

Joe will open the show, clad in black leather, with a tribute to the 1968 special. For the second half, he will be donning a classic white jumpsuit.

“The design is based on Elvis’s 1973 Aloha concert jumpsuit.

"The eagle on the back and front is of course the iconic symbol of America, and my favourite design of all his jumpsuits.

“I am lucky enough to have a very talented and kind mum who makes my costumes."

Elvis is at the Lansdown Hall, Stroud on Saturday, from 8pm.

Tickets are available from Trading Post in Kendrick Street.
