PALOMA Faith’s musical director, Dom Pipkin is bringing his acclaimed band, Dom and the Ikos to the Sub Rooms to mark the release of their latest album.

The ensemble, which also features the talents of Allesandro Bubu Canini on drums, Alex Keen on basses, and Tony Rico on reeds, visit Stroud fresh from appearances at New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and in-depth features on both BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM.

Dom’s style developed out of a love of the New Orleans pianists, Professor Longhair, James Booker, Huey ‘Piano’ Smith, Jon Cleary, as well as from a whole host of jazz and blues influences, such as Errol Garner and Otis Spann.

His solo set (most famously booked privately by the late Stanley Kubrik) shows his classical and sometimes rhapsodic influences, married with a tough approach to the blues and driving left hand rhythms.

uDom and the Ikos play at the Sub Rooms on Friday at 8pm.

Tickets cost £16.00 (£14.50 concs).
