STROUD Symphony Orchestra will be hosting a French themed concert at Holy Trinity Church on Saturday at 7.30pm.

In light of the terrible events on Friday night in Paris, the concert will be dedicated to all the victims of the terror attacks.

Under the baton of conductor Jonathan Trim, the programme will include a Berlioz Overture and Saint-Saens' mighty Organ Symphony (the famous finale theme being recognisable from the film Babe) as well as Ravel's jazzy and dreamy Piano Concerto in G with pianist Alexander Soares, who is increasingly in demand as a soloist.

Alexander has performed across the United Kingdom in such venues as the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, Southbank and Wigmore Hall as well as major venues across Spain and, appropriately for this concert, France. He has been broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 numerous times, with a performance of “diamond clarity and authority” as described by host Sean Rafferty. His broadcast in 2015 as part of the BBCSO ‘Boulez at 90’ celebration was praised for its “huge intensity” (The Telegraph) and described as “most memorable of all” (Financial Times).

Alexander has won numerous award, most recently winner of the prestigious Royal Overseas League Gold Medal and 1st prize in 2015 as well as being a current winner of Making Music’s Young Artists Awards.

Tickets are available at the Stroud Subscription Rooms, or on the door at Holy Trinity on Saturday night.
