JAZZ takes over the town this bank holiday weekend with performances from some of Stroud’s finest soloists and ensembles, alongside top musicians from further afield.

Twenty three bands will play in seven town centre venues, including at the Goods Shed, SVA, Meme, the Ale House, Duffle, the Golden Fleece and the Sub Rooms.

The programme covers a wide spectrum of styles, from classical to improv, and gypsy jazz to hip hop.

Events start on Friday evening, with the opening of Keeping Time, a photography exhibition by David Corio and Fred Chance at the Museum in the Park, where there will be live music from Tetraphonic.

This will be followed by free performances in town, with sets from from Tadek, Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra and Pure Evil.

On Saturday the free music continues throughout the day and evening, with a special ticketed event for Patsy Gamble and The Tadlib Collective at the Goods Shed at 9.30pm.

On Sunday there’s more free live music, plus a performance from saxophonist Andy Sheppard and The Pushy Doctors, with Ramses, in the Goods Shed at 9.15pm.
