AWARD-winning crime novelist RJ Ellory and his country-blues outfit The Whiskey Poets will play at The Convent in Stroud on Wednesday, 29th June.

The band, fronted by RJ, and featuring Martin Smith (formerly of Jeff Lynn’s ELO), recently released their critically acclaimed album ‘Low Country’, the songs for which were inspired by RJ’s latest (and thirteenth) novel ‘Mockingbird Songs’ RJ was first published in the UK in 2003. By 2008 he had released eight novels, and had won nine international literary awards. His books are available in twenty-six languages. He has now sold in excess of four million books worldwide and is continuing to publish annually.

RJ has appeared on radio and television in numerous countries, and has presented documentary pieces about his work for both Channel 4 and the BBC.

In 2012 RJ was voted one of the thirty men 'who will influence the future in the arts, media, politics and sport' by GQ magazine.
