NOW in its 19th year, the Site Festival returns to Stroud this month with a programme of boundary blurring events.
The festival has its roots in contemporary visual arts but over the years there have been many cross overs with music, film, poetry and theatre.
“Site 2015 brings artists, musicians and DJs working with film, installation and sound together to present a programme that blurs the boundaries between the contemporary art and music worlds,” said Neil Walker, artistic director.
“It’s going to be an exciting month, with a lot more music featuring this time round.”
The five-week programme launches on Saturday, with The Voyeurs, Brickhouse, Top Nice and Andy Holden’s collaborative installation with the Bohman Brothers and Richard Thomas for the Goods Shed, and wraps up with a weekend of experimental sounds, including the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble and Toby Marks.
Bedford artist Andy Holden, who was described as a Rising Star of 2014 by The Observer, will present a two-part exhibition, at the Goods Shed and at SVA. Both expound on the impact of technology on the landscape and mental ecology of rural Britain; firstly with the implementation of the enclosures act in the 1830s and secondly with the introduction of broadband to the provinces at the end of the twentieth century.
Site Festival opens on Saturday, when the main exhibitions and events will be open from 6pm to 9pm.
