PAINSWICK Music Society continues celebrating its 70th birthday season on Saturday, April 25 with a concert by the charismatic young Antara flute and harp duo comprising Thomas Hancox (flute) and Rachel Wick (harp).
They have been playing together since 2007 and are now much in demand throughout the country.
Their Painswick concert includes the first performance of a new work written especially for them by the distinguished British composer Robert Saxton, professor of composition at Oxford University.
Professor Saxton has called his new piece King Herla and it promises to be as exciting as the intriguing medieval legend on which it is based. The programme also includes works by Debussy, Fauré and Bax and pieces based on the folk song Early one morning, and Bizet’s Carmen.
