POPULAR Cirencester band, the Abstracts, will be playing at the Bingham Hall rifle range on Friday, April 24 to raise funds for Cotswold Volunteers.

The band’s lead singer Mark Harris, who is also a town councillor and Cirencester’s deputy mayor, said: “Quite simply it will be a fantastic night out for a great cause and it’s not just the Abstracts who are playing, we have singer songwriter Rosie Blackaller and singer Jamie Blackburn. There will be a bar and a sparkling wine bar as well.”

The Abstracts are Mark Harris, John Rutterford, Matt Whiting and Mark Parrish and they all live in Cirencester.

Commenting on the charity Mark Harris added: “We don’t do many public gigs, however when we do we like to support local causes; we have raised money for Gloucestershire Young Carers, the local Amnesty group, and the Phoenix Festival.”

Cotswold Volunteers was created in 1961 and provides a range of transport services to the community. They also help those who want to volunteer and those organisations seeking volunteers get together.

* Tickets for the event are £2.50 in advance, available from the Visitor Information Centre at the Town Council, or £3.50 on the night. There is an event on Facebook at facebook.com/theabstractsband.
