ON SUNDAY, June 7 visitors will have a rare chance to enjoy the 17 acre Ampney Park gardens, London Road, Ampney Crucis from 11am-3pm in aid of local medical charity Cobalt.
Sam Watson, Cobalt’s Fundraising Manager said: ‘We feel so fortunate to be able to offer this event to our supporters as this only happens once or twice a year and would like to thank Ampney Park for this wonderful gesture’.
Originally landscaped when the Manor was built in 1620, some of the original details remain, but the gardens have evolved with a new entrance created in Victorian times and lakes added in 1970.
Over 20 sculptures are scattered throughout the grounds, which include parterres, colourful borders, a scented bluebell walk and a raised vegetable garden.
Cobalt volunteers will be on hand to serve homemade teas on the day from atmospheric Holy Rood Church, which stands within the grounds of Ampney Park.
The church has a rich heritage, including a 15th century churchyard cross, the 16th century Lloyde tomb, an ornate memorial to George Lloyde of Ampney Park and medieval wall paintings.
Admission £5 per adult, under 16s are free. Guide dogs only please.
