A THREE day programme of ballet will be taking place in Cheltenham as the Russian State Ballet and Opera House comes to the Everyman Theatre in October.

With an impressive cast and a large orchestra the company is directed by former soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow, Konstantin Uralsky.

They will be performing Swan Lake on Thursday, October 27, Sleeping Beauty on Friday 28 and the Nutcracker on Saturday 29.

Swan Lake, a compelling legend of tragic romance is arguably one of the most loved and challenging ballets.

From the impressive splendour of the palace ballroom to the moonlit lake where swans glide in perfect formation, the perfect romantic ballet of all time has it all.

The Nutcracker is a truly captivating piece of theatre, a wonderful introduction to ballet for anyone who has never experienced it and still so special to anyone who has.

Snow flurries, sweets, princes, magic, love, victories and defeats and Tchaikovsky’s rousing score, are just some of the ingredients that will be brought together by this renowned ballet.

Sleeping Beauty is the classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic and with stunning choreography, sumptuous costumes and wonderful sets form the fantasy world in which the Lilac Fairy struggles against the evil Carabosse is brought to life.

The Russian State Ballet and Opera House is a gem of the Russian cultural traditions, bringing passion and vibrancy of Russian character to the well-known ballets that feature Tchaikovsky’s most famous works.

The company has built an international reputation for delivering performances of outstanding quality and never fails to delight audiences.
