STROUD Choral Society and their children's choir, The Minpins, will be returning to St. George’s Church, Nailsworth, on Friday December 9th for an evening of Christmas carols, songs and readings. The concert begins at 7.30pm.

The evening features a wide range of musical styles from over the centuries. The programme begins with the conductor’s own arrangement of a medieval French chant and embraces music by Tchaikovsky and Holst, as well as a number of contemporary composers such as Rutter and Tavener.

There will be a number of festive favourites. One song, which all generations will know well, involves both choirs and a side drum! It is hoped that the audience will be in fine voice to join the choirs in the congregational carols.

The Choral Society is conducted by Huw Williams, Musical Director, Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace. Simon Bell is organist and Tim Palmer is on percussion.

  • Tickets are £15 and under 18s (accompanied) are free. Tickets will be available on the door, from choir members, or in advance by contacting the box office at Stroud Subscription Rooms, subscriptionrooms.org.uk, 01453 760900.
