ON SATURDAY, April 22, Cheltenham Camera Club (CCC) is opening their exhibition that showcases the very best work of their members throughout the last year and the winning images from pupils of Gloucestershire’s primary and secondary schools who entered the 2017 Gloucestershire Young Photographers 2017 competition.

The club currently has about 115 members and is made up of photographers from all levels, from complete beginners to the very talented and experienced.

Each year, CCC holds an annual exhibition of members’ work which is run in conjunction with the Gloucestershire Young Photographers (GYP) competition which is organised by the club.

The GYP competition is open to all primary and secondary schools in the county and has regularly attracted more than 400 entries each year for the past 13 years.

It is supported by a grant from Cheltenham Arts Council and the winning students receive cash prizes presented by the mayor of Cheltenham.

The images submitted are often very creative and innovative and the exhibition is a showcase of high quality images that the club hopes will inspire an interest in photography in its audience.

The exhibition will be officially launched with an opening ceremony at 3pm on Saturday, April 22, where awards, will be given to both the members of the CCC and the winners of the GYP by the Mayor, Councillor Chris Ryder.

The exhibition runs until Thursday, April 27, and is open daily from 11am until 5pm and until 2pm on April 27, at the Parabola Arts Centre, Parabola Road, Cheltenham, GL50 3AA.

Entry is free.
