COMPELLING new comedy, Happy Hour, from writer/performer Jonathan Brown arrives at The Cotswold Plyahouse in Stroud on April 22.

When publican Bernie’s 10 year-old son Teddy takes to prophesising the collapse of the industry, best mate Ronnie to smacking the children in the kiddies area, and wife Margaret takes to the toilet, for almost an entire Eastenders episode, Bernie starts to lose faith.

Happy Hour tells the funny, gripping and partly true tale of the very last moments of a pub, directed by award-winning Denise Evans.

One of Something Underground’s many successful shows, Happy Hour received several 5 and 4 star reviews in the Brighton Fringe.

Jonathan Brown, artistic director of Something Underground, said: “Bernie wants his pub to be child friendly, a party atmosphere, a sort of... Santa's Grotto, with himself as Father Christmas. But he's so busy making his dream come true, that his own 10 year-old son, Teddy doesn't get a look in.

"Blind to his son's need for love, his wife's need for moderation and his best friend's need for honesty, Bernie sails his prized ship, The Toby, directly and decisively, onto the rocks. The show is funny, full of laughter, but also poignant, with a lasting feel-good factor.”

Contains adult language and themes. Suitable for 14+ yr olds.
