HAWKWOOD'S annual May Day Festival on Monday, May 1 at Hawkwood College, Painswick Old Road, Stroud is a fun day out for all the family.

There will be live music from local artists throughout the day on the patio area where guests can enjoy an organic bite to eat from the barbecue, have a drink from the bar which includes beer from Stroud Brewery or treat yourself to a delicious Winstone’s ice-cream.

There are children's activities throughout the day which include face painting, storytelling, nature and art, maypole dancing and a treasure hunt around the grounds.

For the adults there are free taster workshops and talks from the extensive Hawkwood programme offering a chance to try calligraphy, laughter yoga, biodanza and many more.

In the main hall there will be an array of stalls from local suppliers and some of Hawkwood’s tutors will be demonstrating their work and selling items.

Tours of the biodynamic gardens and the community agriculture farm are given from the main forecourt and the annual ‘Bard of Hawkwood’ competition will be running, where aspiring writers, poets, storytellers and singers are invited to perform original work.

Principal Alicia Carey said: “Hawkwood is celebrating its 69th anniversary this year and we will be launching our fundraising campaign for £70,000 by our 70th anniversary in 2018. We are looking forward to welcoming our community to another brilliant May Day Festival.”

Gates open at 10am with a welcoming at 10.30 and runs until 5pm. Entry is free and there is a charge of £3 per car in the car park.
