Thursday, May 18

Cirencester 

  • ABBEY 900 Festival. View four of the Ancient Manuscripts from the library of the Abbey of St Mary, taken from Cirencester after its dissolution and destruction in 1539. Corinium Museum, Park St. Monday-Saturday, 10am-5pm and Sunday, 2pm-5pm. Entry is free. 
  • ABBEY 900 Festival. Help build the LEGO® brick model of how St Mary’s Abbey would have looked before it was destroyed at the dissolution in 1539. Minimum £1 donation to put a brick in the build. Parish Church of St John Baptist, the Market Place. Every day from 10am - 4pm except for during church services.
  • COS Productions are performing the much-loved musical Sweet Charity at the Barn Theatre until May 20. Tickets can be purchased from cosproductions.org or from the visitor information centre in Cirencester. 
  • CIRENCESTER Sixth Form College will be exhibiting a variety of creative photographic work between 10am and 4pm in a pop-up show until May 22. Admission is free. 

Friday, May 19 

Tetbury

  • STROUD-based fabric and wallpaper company Lewis & Wood will presenting their story at Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre from 7pm. Entry is £7. Tickets in advance at shed-arts.co.uk or on the door. 

Saturday, May 20

Cirencester 

  • TOP synth-pop covers band Binomial celebrate the Electronic 80s at The Vaults at The Golden Farm, Upper Churnside GL7 1AR. Classic hits from artists including the Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Soft Cell and The Human League. A must-see event for all New Romantics, Blitz Kids and lovers of 80s new wave music.   • ST PETER’S Church Spring Fayre, St Peter’s Road. Tombola, plants, toys, clothes, DVDs, CDs, bric-a-brac, cakes, refreshments etc. From 10am to 3pm.
  • A MAJOR exhibition by Turner-prize winning artist Grayson Perry opens at New Brewery Arts. Until July 16, visitors can view the striking tapestries and listen to The Ballad of Julie Cope. Free. 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays. (See above image.)
  • NCT is holding a Nearly New sale at Bingham Hall, King Street from 9am to 10.45am. Admission is £1 and goes towards their services for parents in the local area. Seller packs available by emailing sellers.cirencester@nct.org.uk. Volunteers sought - email cirencester@nct.org.uk.

Barnsley

Sapperton

  • THE Highland Games return to Park Corner Farm. Games, archery, dog show, BBQ and bar from 12.30pm. Entry is £2 a car. 

Tetbury

  • DOGS Don’t Do Ballet at Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre. Two performances, one at 11.30am and one at 2.30pm. Tickets are £10. Performed by Blunderbus, a theatre company with a knack for creating magical theatre experiences for children and their grown-ups. Tickets from shed-arts.co.uk. 

Sunday, May 21 

Tetbury 

  • COMICS Workshop at Tetbury Goods Shed Arts Centre. Ages 6-11 from 10am to 12noon and teenagers and above from 2-4pm. Learn to draw comic book characters and designs. No experience is necessary. Free with a suggested donation of £5 to The Goods Shed. Visit shed-arts.co.uk for more.
