TWO organisations have joined forces to stage a charity fund-raiser for walkers or runners in a pleasant countryside setting.
North Cotswolds Rotary Club and Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust are putting on the trail-blazing event at Greystones Farm, Bourton-on-the-Water, on Sunday, July 9.
Managed by the wildlife trust, Greystones Farm, off Station Road, Bourton, boasts a wealth of wildlife and outstanding archaeological history.
Competitors will be able to take part in a 10k cross-country run or a 5k or 10k walk.
Money raised from entry fees will go towards conservation work, educational facilities and work to enhance experiences for visitors to Greystones Farm. As well as enjoying healthy exercise and clean country air on the day, walkers and runners can either raise money for Greystones Farm or for a charity of their choice through sponsorship.
Will Masefield, community action team leader at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, said: “We’re so excited to be hosting this fun event and are hugely grateful to North Cotswolds Rotary Club for making it happen.
“Proceeds will go towards the exciting new facilities at Greystones Farm. They will showcase the wildlife, farming heritage and archaeological importance of the site, making it accessible and engaging for all.”
The 10k walk and run will start at 10am and the 5k walk at 11am. Registration is from 9am. The cost of entry is £7.50 for adults, children aged 16 and under free.
There is no parking at Greystones Farm but public parking is available in nearby Station Road.
Dogs can accompany walkers but must be on a lead because Greystones is a working farm. Light refreshments, including homemade cakes, will be available after the events.
