LOVE is in the air at Stroud’s popular Museum in the Park, where cutting edge artistic duo Robbins and Roberts have taken over the Art Gallery until Monday, August 28.

The Stroud artists have transformed the space with an explosion of colour and playful humour.

Appropriately surrounded by the beautiful ‘pleasure grounds’ of Stratford Park, this playful installation will lift your spirits and make you smile, and remind you that all we really need is love.

Robbins said: “The Robbins and Roberts Pleasure Gardens is an exhibition exploring the democratisation of space, in the form of public parks and gardens, through the hazy lens of love and memory”.

Stratford Park has been a public space since the mid 1930s. Its grassy lawns, majestic trees, ornamental lake, outdoor pool and bandstand are loved by locals and visitors alike. Since 2001 it has also been home to the District’s Museum and Art Gallery.

Joanna Hanley-Horwood, Museum Duty Manager said: “So many people of all ages love the Museum and Stratford Park.

"We’re now seeing children who came here on school trips returning with their children. We’ve seen marriage proposals and engagements too, and many older visitors have fond memories of courting in the park.

"We hope you enjoy the Robbins and Roberts Pleasure Gardens and tell us more about your memories of this special place.”
