THIS year's Bisley Fete and Flower show takes place this Saturday, August 26 at Evans’ Field off Cheltenham Road.

The fete opens from 1pm with a wide variety of stalls, including white elephant, books, toys, plants, produce and cakes.

Popular retired local GP Pat Pearson will open the flower show at 2pm and crown this year’s flower queen Emily Bradley.

Then visitors can peruse the fine vegetables, fruit, preserves, flowers, home baking and crafts on display in the flower show marquee.

There will be a dog show, a children’s fancy dress competition with a fruit and vegetables theme, a new ‘hungry hippos’ style game and the return of the ‘well-turned ankle’ and ‘knobbly knees’ contests – for men and women – back by popular demand.

Avening Silver Band will be on hand to ensure the afternoon goes with a swing and the refreshments on offer will include Bisley’s famous teas, along with barbecue food and glasses of beer and wine.

Don't forget to buy tickets for the grand raffle.

Money raised by the fete goes towards the upkeep of All Saints’ Church.

The dates of the first Bisley Flower Show and Fete have been lost in the mists of time, but it’s known that the annual events have been taking place for more than a century.
