MADELEINE Harwood from Cam will be celebrating her new album launch in the Berkeley Arms on the High Street from 12-4pm on Sunday, September 3.

'Darkest Part' is a 10 track capella album, most akin to folk in sound, which is due to be released on CD and online from September 4.

Join the launch party for live music from Madeleine and other musicians, with the bar flowing.

The 35-year-old ex-Rednock pupil has only begun writing her own music in earnest recently, so she was particularly encouraged by being crowned the Bard of Hawkwood in Stroud on May Day this year. And she attributes locals with developing her confidence.

"It seems only right that I hold my album launch in the Berkeley Arms, as it was the lovely landlord Graham Ponting who drew me out of my shell and got me singing karaoke in there for him – it was the start of everything," Madeleine explained.

The launch event will be in aid of Bipolar UK – a cause close to her heart.

"A lot of my music is influenced by the fact that I suffer from bipolar disorder," she said.

"I will be raising money for a worthwhile charity who have helped me so much throughout the years."

Great prizes have been donated by local businesses for a charity raffle and silent auction.
