LOCAL Cirencester acoustic duo Ethemia are celebrating after Crescent Records rewarded their hard work with a two year record deal.

The signing to the Wiltshire label marks new high for Ethemia, comprising Berny Poulton and Michaela Mott, who have played solidly together for over five years throughout Europe and across the UK, attracting media attention and excellent reviews.

Crescent Records has already seen success with the signing of Swindon singer/songwriter Rob Richings, who recently completed a UK Tour with the legendary Hazel O'Connor.

Michaela said: It is so exciting. We have been signed for a two year recording deal with the option of a further year. Our first recording under Crescent Records is our EP called 'Common Ground' and its release date is June 21 2018."

James Richings, director of Crescent Records said: "Ethemia's tunes are truly cracking. A touch of Fleetwood Mac. We intend to make good things come of such talent. We have heard that several people are labelling their music as 'Epic Pop'. A term we think that may just stick."

Ethemia have already had a number of BBC Radio plays, including on BBC Introducing and two appearances on the Gaby Roslin Show BBC Radio London, with Gaby describing their music as "fabulous". Ethemia were also featured on BBC Radio 2 in Faith in the World Week.

Berny Poulton added: "It's been very exciting working with producer Damon Sawyer for he has recorded our EP in a special Hi-Def format called DSD (the same recording format used by the London Philharmonic Orchestra). We have also had amazing session musicians performing with us on our EP, including Geoff Dunn the legendary drummer of Van Morrison and Procol Harem fame."

Ethemia have performed around the UK with legendary acts such as Curved Air, The Strawbs, Steeleye Span and Louden Wainright lll.

Now, as they plan their EP release tour, it has just been confirmed they will be supporting the renowned John Otway and Wild Willy Barret.
