THE Barn Academy in Cirencester is set to take on two hit musicals for its summer season.

Students will stage the epic West End classic Les Misérables, which played for over 30 years in London and was made into an Oscar-winning film, at the Griffin Theatre, Rendcomb from August 14-18.

Following this will be Disney’s Aladdin JR. Based on the animated Disney film, the show will feature some favourite Disney songs, including ‘A whole new world’.

Aladdin Jr. will play at the Barn Theatre from August 23-25.

The Barn Academy has been running in Cirencester for three years, alongside the revamp and launch of Cirencester’s new professional theatre, The Barn Theatre, and has had hundreds of students through its doors, producing full scale productions and developing key performance and life skills since its

launch.

Kimberley Moses has been appointed as the new Director for The Barn Academy, working alongside The Barn’s Artistic director Iwan Lewis to expand the Barn Theatre’s educational offering and fulfil its outreach ambitions.

She said: “I can’t wait to see the results of the hard work the students have put in for Les Mis and Aladdin! I’m looking forward to expanding on the brilliant work Benn and Kelly have done to create a fun and energetic environment for young people to thrive and develop, whether they're looking for a career in the industry, want to increase their confidence or learn new skills.

"The Barn Academy continues to bring all that theatre has to offer to our local community, and with the direct links to the Barn Theatre, it is a thrilling opportunity for all young people to get involved in. I’m so excited to be part of it.”
