DJ JAGDISH Patel is one of Stroud FM's new radio presenters.
Each week, from 8pm to 9pm on a Thursday, he will focus on upcoming local arts and music events in and around Stroud.
"I used to be a DJ on university radio when I was a student at Warwick. That was in the old days when we used to spin records. I did that for nearly two years in the early 80s. It was on a Sunday morning, which meant no lie in after the big party night on Saturday," he said.
"It was mainly a music show, whereas this is more of a chat show with some music.
"I'm finding that it's easier to chat on the radio if you are actually talking to someone, rather than just talking into a mike by yourself between records," he said.
"I know how difficult it is to get your arts event or music covered on the radio. The idea of Guestlist is to put the spotlight on local arts and local music.
Interviews are interspersed with music from local musicians and bands only. Guests have included Neil Walker from the Stroud Valleys Artspace, Oliver Jelf from the illustration Gallery and Rick Vick from the Space. Music played on the station has included Ruth's Curtain, Ceilidh Jo, Superjuice, Mad Cows, Hometown Supersound, Alcatraz Swim team, the Drones, and Popgang, If you would like your art event or music featured on Guestlist please send an email to guestlistfm@yahoo.com or drop of your CD marked for Jagdish Patel, Stroud FM, 48C High Street, Stroud, GL5 1AN.
