Nailsworth Community News by Norman Kay Hello. Welcome to this regular feature that offers a community perspective of news from Nailsworth. We welcome contributions, and if you have an event that you want to publicise you can contact Norman Kay on 833458 with information for inclusion.

No.46 bus service The County Council are considering the reintroduction of the evening part of this service, perhaps only for Friday and Saturday for a trial period - but only if local parish councils pay a large sum towards the costs. This has not been received well, not least because transport matters are a County Council responsibility and they receive a central government subsidy. There is much more interest in helping meet the costs of the local Stroud Night Bus Service if it goes to Nailsworth. Negotiations continue but a decision has to be made by the end of May.

Services for Retired People Retired people are being reminded of the Town Council's Guide to services for older and retired people in town. This leaflet contains a host of information of what is available and where to get help. Copies can be obtained from the Town Information Centre in Fountain Street.

Markets in Nailsworth Nailsworth has several markets. The W.I Country Market sells its produce at the Mortimer Room each Friday morning. There is also a well established monthly Farmer's Market in the Mortimer Gardens on the fourth Saturday of each month. And in addition traders in Market Street hold a monthly open air market. They welcome shoppers, so why not pay them a visit?.

The Nailsworth Games Plans for the Nailsworth Games are forging ahead. It will take place in the first two weeks of July as a celebration of sport in the town. Most of the local sports clubs and youth organisations are taking part and many are offering taster' sessions or competitive events. On Sunday 6th July there will be a family fun day on the King George V Playing Fields. The Stroud Athletics Club and Nailsworth Tennis Club will be offering activities for young people, and some for adults. The Silver Band will be playing. There may be a hot-air balloon ascent, a craft market, and other attractions. It will offer lots of fun for all the family. We hope that you will join in and have fun.
