Voters are choosing England and Wales's first police and crime commissioners under the most radical shake-up of the service in half a century.
The new PCCs, which are set to replace police authorities, will set spending plans and have the power to "hire and fire" chief constables. Voters are also turning out for three parliamentary by-elections following the resignations of one Conservative and two Labour MPs.
