STUDENTS at Stroud High School raised more than £3,000 at a charity auction for a trip to visit their link schools in South Africa.
The event on Thursday included items donated by staff, families and businesses with restaurant vouchers, gliding lessons, beauty hampers, golf days and gym memberships up for auction.
Eight students will travel to Cape Town in July to visit Rustenburg High School and Mfuleni High School and will take part in community projects such as planting a sustainable vegetable patch and redecorating classrooms.
The school has also raised £11,000 through other fundraising events, which will be used to build a house for a family in the town.
