Police warning after doorstep scam in Cainscross Road, Stroud

GLOUCESTERSHIRE Police are warning householders to be on their guard against a potential doorstep scam after an incident in Cainscross Road, Stroud.

At around midday on Thursday, January 24, a householder answered his door to a woman claiming to be from the Crime Prevention Unit.

She said she was calling to let residents know that there will be three extra police officers on the beat in the area.

She then went on to explain that somebody from another department would be producing crime prevention books and would be in contact to take his bank account details in order to debit his account "like last year". The woman then left.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation should call police on 101 quoting incident 151 of January 24.
