Rail death - man named as Stephen Kelly

THE man who was killed after being hit by a train at Standish junction near Stonehouse has been named as Stephen Kelly.

Although the man is yet to be officially identified by the Gloucestershire coroner the SNJ understands that Mr Kelly, of Walkley Hill, Rodborough, Stroud, was killed when the 7.11am First Great Western Gloucester to Swindon service passed by Standish junction on Wednesday.

British Transport Police were called to the scene at 8.10am after receiving reports of a body on the tracks.

Mr Kelly, thought to be in his fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene, and British Transport Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Until the victim is formally identified early next week his name cannot be officially released.
