Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Stroud.

The incident happened between 7.30pm and 7.40pm on Friday, February 1, along an underpass near Kwik Fit in Dr Newtons Way.

The victim, a 21-year-old man from Stroud, was walking along the underpass when he was approached by two men.

One of the men asked for the victim’s mobile phone. The second offender then produced a weapon, thought to be a small hand saw.

After a scuffle, the victim fell to the ground where he was kicked and punched causing facial injuries.

He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

The offenders have then taken the victim’s grey hoody-style top with the words ‘New Yorker’ on the front.

The first offender is described as white, around 17 or 18 years old, approximately 6ft tall. He’s is of medium build with a ‘spotty’ face and black, wavy, short hair.

He was wearing a black McKenzie jacket, grey jogging bottoms or jeans and white Nike Air Max trainers.

The second offender is described as white between 17 and 18 years old, around 6ft 2in tall.

He was of medium build, but slightly stockier than the first man. He had dark, short hair, wearing a dark McKenzie hoody jacket, with grey/blue jogging bottoms.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation should call police on 101 quoting incident 398 of February 1.
