Twitter users flock to follow Stroud planner Phil Skill after appearance in BBC 2 documentary

NORMALLY it is dominated by the likes of Justin Beiber and One Direction but on Thursday night Stroud District Council's head of planning Phil Skill was trending on Twitter.

TV viewers watching the first of a BBC 2 series called The Planners took to social media mainly to talk about his name.

One user commented" "If your name was Phil Skill why wouldn't you become a rock star or a stunt man?"

Others said: "Unbelievable Skill from Phil" and "Unexpectedly cool name for a town planner."

SDC's planning officers were followed by a film crew throughout last summer as the controversial application to build seven retirement homes on Lemon Field in Minchinhampton went through the system.

It culminated with coverage of the SDC development control meeting during which the plans were refused.

Other applications to feature in other episodes of the eight-part series include a new wedding venue at Elmore Court and the controversial application for four wind-turbines in the Berkeley Vale.
