MOST parents face an everyday battle to get their children out of bed once they hit their teens.

However, Jamie and Julie Bayliss watched in amazement when their daughter Chloe got up at the crack of dawn on her 13th birthday and cycled nearly 20 miles to school.

Chloe left her home in Sopworth, Wiltshire at 5.45am on Tuesday, January 29 and cycled 19 miles to Wycliffe Preparatory School in Stonehouse to raise money for the War Child charity.

And she was thrilled when Harry Potter star Warwick Davis and Jason Bradbury of Channel 5's Gadget Show Tweeted good luck messages before she set off.

Chloe, who got a bedroom makeover for her birthday, completed the ride as part of her Wycliffe Kirby Challenge Award which is designed to help Year 8 pupils develop leadership skills and confidence.

"I set myself a target of £500 and so far I have reached just over £700 which I am delighted with," said Chloe, a fitness enthusiast who went on a netball tour to Yorkshire with her school last week.

War Child, which helps children in some of the most dangerous war zones, is Wycliffe's nominated charity of the year.

"We have learnt a lot about War Child at school and I especially liked the fact that the charity supports children across the world," said Chloe, who will be starting at Wycliffe College in September.

Chloe chose to complete the cycle ride on her birthday because it made it extra special.

"I had a really fun day. I raised some money for charity in the morning, everyone sang me happy birthday at school and I shared two boxes of doughnuts with my friends," she said.
