STROUD has been named Farmers Market of the Year by the Farm and Retail Markets Association (FAMRA).

Now in its 14th year, Stroud farmers’ market continues to provide a range of local and regional food, bringing shoppers to the town centre every Saturday.

The market regularly has around 50 stalls and continues to receive fantastic support from customers, both local and from further afield.

Over the years it has featured in TV programmes such as Countryfile, the Hairy Bikers and Blue Peter.

Market Manager Kardien Gerbrands said: “It is hard for some people to imagine Stroud without the market on a Saturday, but for those of us who have lived here a long time it is plain to see how its success has played a huge role in keeping the town centre thriving.

“The success of the market is down to two main things, the quality of the produce and the commitment of Stroud customers.

There will be an award ceremony at the market this Saturday at 11am.
