A CARE home worker from the Stroud area has been convicted of molesting a female colleague after showing her pornographic pictures on his mobile phone.

Gloucester Crown Court was told on Friday how the woman was alone in the staffroom of the home when the man, aged 30, asked if she liked pornography.

The woman laughed it off, saying she did not have time for that sort of thing but the defendant then showed her explicit images on his mobile phone, the court heard.

Giving evidence, the woman said the man told her he wanted to kiss her, went up behind her and squeezed her breasts so hard he left a bruise. He then started kissing her neck.

The woman told the jury that she moved her head from side to side and kept saying 'No' but the man would not stop.

He then moved in front of her, squeezed her breasts and kissed her which caused the woman to begin to cry.

The man then stopped and apologised for his behaviour but admitted he found her very attractive.

Prosecutor Julian Kesner said that afterwards the woman left the staffroom and sent texts to a friend and to the manager about what had happened.

The man then began pleading with her not to say anything, putting his hands together while he spoke, said Mr Kesner.

After being arrested, the man denied touching the woman sexually, saying he had simply given her a hug and comforted her because she was upset about a resident who was ill.

The man denied sexually assaulting the woman on May 6 last year but after retiring for three-and-a-half hours the jury returned a guilty verdict.

He was released on bail and will be sentenced on March 8.
