AN offer has been made on the former Poor Clares convent in Woodchester with the intention of turning it into a luxury hotel and wedding venue.
Estate agents Knight Frank, which is selling the £1.75 million property for the Diocese of Clifton, has confirmed it is under offer.
It has been on the market for three years.
The property features an ornate chapel, the main convent block, a guest house, reception and meeting rooms, offices, bedrooms and bathrooms.
It also has a five-bedroom lodge, gardens, a garage and farm stores.
The convent closed in 2011 after more than 150 years of service to the community.
It was once home to 30 sisters, but by 2011 just five nuns remained.
The convent had developed into a retreat and conference centre, however the cost of maintaining the building became unsustainable.
