Delight as much-loved village shop re-opens in Chalford parish church

VILLAGERS who feared their popular community shop was lost were delighted when it re-opened in a new location on Saturday.
Volunteers who ran Chalford Community Stores in the high street have been looking for a new venue for nearly a year due to a decision by the landlord but had no luck and were forced to close at the end of January.
However, they were recently offered the chance to set up the store in Christ Church in London Road - just five minutes from the previous location.
The arrangement is on a temporay basis at present which means the post office is unable to function.
Volunteer Mandy Platt said: "Once we find a more permanent location we can hopefully have a post office in Chalford again."
The shop is open from 8am to 1pm between Monday and Saturday and 9.30am to 10am on Sundays.
