CONSERVATIVES on Stroud District Council are proposing that the authority moves to a system of full elections every four years.
At present, a third of councillors are elected annually but from May 2015 the Conservatives want to see a four-year election cycle introduced, with all 51 seats put up for grabs in a one-off contest.
Two Tories - Cllr Paul Carter (Nailsworth) and Cllr Dorcas Binns (Minchinhampton) - have tabled a motion proposing the change to four-year fixed-term elections.
It says: "The necessary steps on consultation should be undertaken by October 2013 and a special meeting called at that time to approve the change."
The motion will be debated at full council tonight, Thursday, at Ebley Mill. It is open to the public and starts at 7pm.
