Man, 26, had sex with 14-year-old girl he met on Facebook

A 26-YEAR-OLD man who had a full sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl he met on Facebook is facing a prison sentence.

At Gloucester Crown Court, the man admitted three offences of sexual activity with the girl at Painswick golf course in March, April and May 2012.

The charges all specified that he had sexual intercourse with the girl.

"It is accepted by the prosecution that this relationship was consensual," said Lisa Hennessy, prosecuting.

"They met through a mutual friend and a friend request being made on Facebook. He took her in a car to Painswick golf course where they had sex on the front passenger seat.

"There was sex on several occasions and the three charges are specimens."

Judge Jamie Tabor QC granted defence solicitor David Billingham's request for a probation service pre-sentence report.

Agreeing to adjourn till March 15 for a report to be prepared, Judge Jamie Tabor QC warned "He knows what is likely to happen to him. There are sentencing guidelines which I must follow."

"You have had the guts to own up and not put this young girl through a trial.  You will get maximum credit for that."

Sentence was adjourned till March 15 and the man was granted bail.
