NOVELIST Katie Fforde has been shortlisted for the prestigious Romantic Novel of the Year award.

For the second year in a row, Katie won the contemporary category of the Romantic Novelists' Association awards and will now go forward to contest for the Romantic Novel of the Year award.

Rodborough-based Katie received an engraved crystal star at a glittering reception at the RAF Club in London's Piccadilly on Tuesday, February 26 for her book Recipe for Love.

The book is about Zoe, who wins a coveted place in a televised cookery competition.

Zoe can't wait to put her cooking skills to the test but as the competition heats up, she develops an inconvenient crush on one of the judges.

Recipe for Love will now be read and judged by a panel of five independent judges and the winner of the 2013 Romantic Novel of the Year award will be announced on May 16.

Katie's latest novel is called A French Affair and fans gathered at Stroud Bookshop on Saturday for a book signing.

The tale centres around Gina and Sally Makepiece who have inherited a stall at the French House - an antiques centre in the heart of the English countryside.

The last thing either of them want is to fall in love but will a trip to France change their minds?

A French Affair is published by Century at £16.99.
