FOR years, customers at a popular pet shop have been greeted with the words and even wolf whistles of Charlie the Indian hill mynah bird.

But sadly on Friday, February 22, Charlie, who lived to the age of 27, died at his home, All Pets and Garden Accessories in Elm Road, Stonehouse.

"He was loved and admired by many customers who came into our shop," said shop owner Angela Watson.

"Charlie spoke and learned words and often said 'what now' but he was best known for wolf whistling at people.

"Unfortunately he hadnÕt been very well for a little while.
"We are all heartbroken because even though he was originally my bird he became part of the shop and part of the community."
