Children rise to the challenge of the Great Painswick bake-off

JUNIOR chefs rose to the challenge at a primary school bake-off this week.
A Polish cheesecake, gingerbread men and a cake in the shape of an igloo were among the delicious treats baked by children at The Croft Primary School in Painswick.
The pupils baked the sweet treats with a 'children around the world' theme as part of the school's Fairtrade coffee morning on Friday, March 8.
Parents, teachers and villagers packed into the busy school hall as judges viewed the creations and crowned a winner for each year group.
Organiser Jane Bailey said: "The children had such a great time making the cakes and all the entries were absolutely brilliant."
All proceeds from the coffee morning go to The Vine Project, a charity based in Sheepscombe, which provides school uniforms and equipment for vulnerable children in South Africa.
