ANIMAL lover Megan Williams, 13, spent the day at a dog shelter after winning a photography competition.

Stroud High School pupil Megan beat off competition from more than 200 entries to spend a day at the Dogs Trust in Newbury.

She was given a behind the scenes tour of the rehoming centre and was part of the charity's carer team for the day.

"I had such a great time," said Megan, who lives in Chalford with her mum Helen, Dad Nigel and younger brother Jacob, 11.

"I enjoyed meeting the puppies and even got to name one. I also took a dog for a walk and gave one a wash and groom."

To enter the competition Megan had to take a picture that captured a dog's day.

Megan, who wants to be a vet when she is older, took a picture of her pet cocker spaniel called Woody jumping over a fence in the woods.

If you can offer Stryke, pictured with Megan, a home contact the Dogs Trust on 01926 484 398.
