Road safety signs to stop speeding parents near Chalford schools

SPEEDING parents have prompted primary school pupils to design road safety signs to be hung around Chalford.

Pupils from Bussage, Chalford Hill and Christchurch primary schools, along with Gloucestershire police, Stroud District Council and Chalford Parish Council all worked together to produce the signs which will be hung outside the schools near the main road.

Recent police checks outside the schools showed that many of the speeding vehicles were driven by parents.

PC Emma Beard said: "Firstly I would like to congratulate the students on their winning designs, they look fantastic and help get the message of road safety out to the public.

"Responsible driving is important everywhere but especially around schools. The new signs will help spread the message to all."

The students who produced the winning signs received Amazon vouchers and a copy of their winning design made into a sign.
