A SELFISH young man has a row with his dad,
"I'm leaving, I wish you were dead!
I'll have what I'm due, I'll never look back,"
"No problem," said dad "you can have it right now."
He wrote him a cheque and bid him farewell,
In a flash he was gone as rich as could be,
Lots of good times, flushed it all down the pan,
As quick as it came - it was gone. Damn!
Found a job, of a sort, the lowest of low,
Mucking out pigs, it was all he could get.
It happened one day, got a bang on the head,
Thought, I'll go back to dad's, he'll give me a job,
I'll tell him I'm sorry, I'll be one of the lads.
From a distance his dad saw a sad looking figure,
"Ah, the waster returns, I knew that he would, Blown all my money, I said he was no good.
So you want a favour from me? You wretched young hound!
You can muck out MY pigs 'til you've repaid every pound.
So he lived in misery the rest of his days,
- Living the wild life, it just never pays...
This is perhaps the way that many of us would want to treat those who offend us, but God through Jesus offers us so much more.
